Christy Clark endorser Gordon Wilson faced recent financial troubles

    1 of 1 2 of 1

Former B.C. Liberal leader Gordon Wilson was back in the news this week when he endorsed Christy Clark for premier (see video above).

The video doesn't include mention of Wilson's recent financial challenges.

Court documents reveal that a home owned by the former Powell River–Sunshine Coast MLA and his wife, former B.C. Liberal MLA Judi Tyabji, was the subject of foreclosure proceedings in January 2012.

According to an Order Nisi (conditional order) granted to Serin Investments Ltd. by B.C. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Saunders, the couple owed $157,465.72 plus the assessed costs of the hearing.

In February 2013, Tyabji and Wilson signed a consent order agreeing to a judgment of $35,853.33 to Hakemi Law Corporation.

Wilson is also a former NDP cabinet minister and was once leader of the Progressive Democratic Alliance.

So much for the NDP not running a negative campaign. A well-regarded citizen comes forward with his endorsement and all the NDP and their surrogates can do is attack him personally. He isn't even running for anything, but his personal finances are now the subject of political investigation and media smear.

      Stephen Harper would be proud.

It really never ceases to amaze me how people like Gordon Wilson can have an credibility at all with anyone.

This BC Liberal crowd is a toxic waste dump.

Not at all surprising that Christy Clark would have such pathetic judgment in accepting the endorsement of someone like this. All the more reason to vote for Adrian Dix.

Why would anyone be surprised at Gordon Wilson and his wife? We know them well in Powell River. I assure you, they keep to themselves and no one wants to go near them.

When I read the names of Christy Clark, Mark Marrisen, Judi Tjabi, and Gordon Wilson in Mackin's article, i felt a sickness and nausea that I haven't experienced in years.

I pine for the days of Gordon Campbell. How far we BC Liberals have declined when Christy Clark and Gordon Wilson share the stage as those that purport to represent us!

If Gordon Wilson is providing this endorsement to Christy for "reward", then his financial difficulties would be relevant (because his sincerity would be in question). If not, then I don't think the information is important.

Besides, it isn't necessary. Wilson was BC Liberal leader, he was knee-capped by the other Gordon, then he was leader of a new party that he created, then he was an NDP cabinet minister, then he was an "apolitical" pundit, and now he's a Christy Clark supporter.

That history alone is enough to call his credibility into question. And that's what Dix should "attack" - not Wilson's personal financial affairs.

The only real question i have is this: Who cares? This guy has been surfing on one line in a debate twenty years ago against Mike Hartcourt and Rita Johnson, for goodness sakes! Two of the most laughable characters in BC politics at the time. Anyone under 40 wouldn't know this guy, and people over 40 don't care what he has to say. All of this demonstrates how completely devoid of anything or anybody meaningful the Christy Liberals are.

      LOLwut Alex?

Don't you think that whether you are on team Crusty or rising Dix that everyone in this election is running against Campbell (and Basi and Virk)?
