B.C. Liberals win re-election thanks in part to suburban voters
In recent history, B.C. elections have been won and lost in the Vancouver suburbs.
And once again, the B.C. Liberals proved overwhelming in many of the Lower Mainland constituencies outside of the Burrard Peninsula.
Premier Christy Clark was raised in the suburbs and for many years represented a suburban constituency in the legislature.
While the NDP fared well in Burnaby and New Westminster, the party was slaughtered again on the North Shore and in Richmond, losing all seven seats in those areas.
The B.C. Liberals also won in Port Moody–Coquitlam, defeating former Port Moody mayor Joe Trasolini, as well as in Coquitlam–Burke Mountain.
The NDP lost in Delta North, Maple Ridge–Mission, Maple Ridge–Pitt Meadows, and at least half the constituencies in Surrey.
It raises questions how the NDP might have fared had Mike Farnworth been leading the Opposition party rather than Adrian Dix.
Farnworth, who won a landslide victory in Port Coquitlam, might have seemed more in synch with suburban voters.
But Dix triumphed in the last NDP leadership race, leaving his party more vulnerable to attack ads than if Farnworth were the leader.

Farnsworth would've been more engaging and articulate as NDP leader. Just didn't have a good vibe with Dix plus knowing slimy Sihota was still lurking around as an executive for them.
Christie's series of quick-wins worked; Stephen Harper's conduit is alive, kicking and stronger than ever. Thank your neighbours in the morning who helped grant them their majority powers.
Everything will be alright if you're the 1%...everyone else turn over your wallets.

For a swing voter like myself, I think Mike Farnsworth would have made the difference

The first sentence says "elections have been won and lost in the Vancouver suburbs" Yet I seem to remember the ndp's plan was to win with the urban vote. Wow, talk about bad planning. Dix was weak - plain and simple.
One of them!
