Hard Rock Casino Vancouver (2080 United Boulevard) is set to replace Coquitlam’s Boulevard Casino by December. According to a news release from the Great Canadian Gaming Corporation, which will retain ownership of Canada’s first Hard Rock Casino, the luxury complex will include entertainment facilities, dining options, and an expanded casino.

“This new multimillion dollar renovation and rebranding will create an iconic entertainment environment offering, ‘everything you go out for,’” Howard Blank, who is vice president of the Great Canadian Gaming Corporation, stated. “We look forward to presenting the very best of gaming, music, fun and dining at the Hard Rock Casino Vancouver; everyone will be treated like a rock star, whether you are 19 or 99.”

“Hard Rock Casino is one of the most globally recognized entertainment brands in the world,” Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas chief operating officer Jody Lake added. “The expansion of the Hard Rock into the Vancouver area is an important milestone for us.”

The casino will span 80,000 square feet and include 950 slot machines, a VIP high-limit salon, and tables for blackjack, roulette, pai gow, poker, baccarat, and craps.

The venue will also house a 1,000-seat theatre dedicated to music and comedy performances. A second entertainment area will feature live music and DJs. Seven dining spots, including three bar-lounges, will be included.

      WTF?

This yet another example of Corporate Welfare by the Lying Fiberals.

If the Province kept 100% of the Gaming Revenues instead of 'Sharing' it with a select few handful of Corporations (note no-one else can open a competing service) should run (most Casinos are already Unionized) and keep 100% of the profits.

Further the Province pays for a significant part of Maintenance and Construction at the Casinos even though Private for Profit Corporations get to keep a big chunk of change like 40%+.

If the Province kept 100% of the Gaming Revenues 1.5 Billion extra a year would remain in BC to pay for Health Care and Education.

Instead $1.5 Billion is given away to a Cartel of select Corporations instead of British Columbians.

How B.C. Lotteries came to pay $400 million to casinos
All 17 of the province's casinos have received payments to recoup some of their capital costs

      Published: Friday, January 07, 2011

Since 1997, the B.C. Lottery Corporation has paid out more than $400 million in gambling revenues to B.C. casino operators so that they can recoup their capital costs.

Yup we have been screwed yet again.

Awesome. If the other Hard Rocks I've seen are any indication, this place will be filled with drunken idiots non-stop. The poker room should be a guaranteed profit!

@ the gambler funny how the Liberals and Conservatives are for Open Markets except for things like...

$ Casino's where Profits are Guaranteed for a Select small Cartel,

$ Private Power Companies with Guaranteed Profits via Above Market Rate Contracts that BC Hydro must pay them on the backs of British Colombians,

$ $565 Million for a Leaky Tarp Roof type Contracts to a select few,

      $ Billions for the Owe-lympics

      etc etc,

I guess your just not their 'Friend'.

Sounds good. Heard that the manager of Star Light poker room was transferred to Boulevard. Since then the poker room becomes dead as Star light poker room. Poor management.

Well done Vancouver for Bringing the Hard Rock to the City. Let's change the Rep of "No Fun City" to "Hard Rock City " instead! Has a much better and more future positive ring to it!
      Great times ahead!
