Vancouver Canucks trade fan favourite Eddie Lack for two draft picks

It probably seems like déja vu for Vancouver Canucks fans.

For the second summer in three years, the team has traded a star goalie for unknown talent.

This morning, Eddie Lack was shipped to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for the 66th draft pick this year and a seventh-round pick in 2016.

Last year, the 27-year-old Swede posted 18 wins and 13 losses with a goals-against-average of 2.45. His save percentage was .921.

Both his goals-against and save percentages were superior to the Number 1 netminder, Ryan Miller, who recorded 29 wins and 15 losses.

Lack has a terrific sense of humour, which was on display in January when his teammates pranked him on his birthday.

Eddie Lack takes the ice-bucket challenge—involuntarily.

In 2013, the Canucks shipped goalie Cory Schneider to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for a first-round pick, Bo Horvat, who thrilled fans with his play this year.

The words 'goalie' and 'Canucks' never seem to find a happy balance. For a backup, Lack produced big time and it's too bad he's been shown the door. The pocket lint received in return would've been more inline with what Bieksa would be fair market for. Gillis' contract structures are probably haunting and hampering the new executives..
