Vancouver broadcasters Kerry Marshall and Marcella Bernardo join Roundhouse Radio 98.3
For four decades, Kerry Marshall has been a familiar voice on Vancouver radio stations. His longest tenures were with with C-FOX and Jack FM.
This fall, he'll be back on the airwaves as news and content director with the soon-to-be-launched Roundhouse Radio 98.3.
The station has also announced the signing of Marcella Bernardo as assistant news and content director. She's been reporting and occasionally hosting shows on CKNW Radio for 11 years. Before that, she was heard on News1130.
Roundhouse Radio will be a mostly talk station, but you can also expect to hear some music. It bills itself as an "inclusive, progressive, topical radio station with a focus on local programming".
The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission awarded the licence to a local group of investors last August for the low-power specialty station. The advisory board includes veteran Vancouver broadcasters Shirley Stocker and Tony Parsons.

Roundhouse Radio looks like an attempt to bring some genuine public access and advocacy back to the airwaves after Shaw TV went to corporate pre-packaged content years ago. It's also good to see the prospect of 'Van City' specific programming as opposed to other stations obsession with mollifying the bridge-and-tunnel crowd - I could care less about what's happening with the Mary Hill Bypass or Massey Tunnel every five minutes.
Hopefully progressive means truly progressive in that programming is oriented to creating positive change, as opposed to the Millenial Randian Technoganda the likes of Lululemon and Uber try to pass off as "progressive".

Totally agree with your other participants
we really need a new all round informational
radio station I would love to throw my hat in
the ring to help out in the do it yourself info
I've sold the business and our daughter has
taken over the service referral component
Still a major need for the younger first time
home buyers to learn how their home works
andc repairing it as well. Look forward to hearing from you thanks in advance SHEL

They should give Roberta Power of "Losers Advocate" a radio show. Her show and Rockinitis are the only good things on (corporate) community TV.

You all are forgetting about CBC Radio 1 with Rick, Steven, Gloria, and all the rest. Progressive, informative, and entertaining every day of the week.
