Far more people are voting early rather than waiting until October 19 to cast ballots.

Elections Canada has reported that more than 1.6 million Canadians showed up at advance polls on Friday (October 9) and Saturday (October 10).

That's up 34 percent over the number who voted in the first two days at advance polls in the 2011 federal election.

Today is the last day of the advance poll before the general election next Monday. Voting at the advance poll takes place from noon to 8 p.m. in Vancouver.

The location of advance polls are listed on people's voter-identification cards. Under the Fair Elections Act, people must provide proof of identity to vote, including their address.
