For decades, transportation advocates have called for free bus service in the downtown core of Vancouver.

It's never taken off, but now this is available in New Westminster.

Westminster Savings, Bosa Properties, and the River Market have launched a complimentary shuttle service called the Downtown Uptown Connector.

It's a pilot project running until March 31, 2016, linking the Uptown neighbourhood with the waterfront in the downtown core.

It's available every 30 minutes between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., from Thursdays to Sundays.
