A week ago, NDP MLA Spencer Chandra Herbert informed the public that an alleged attack involving homophobic slurs had taken place at his constituency office in Vancouver's West End.

Today (March 3), the Vancouver Police Department announced that charges have been laid in the February 21 incident, which saw Chandra Herbert's constituency assistant allegedly get punched in the face.

Michael Melvin Williams, a 53-year-old Vancouver resident, has been charged with assault and mischief under $5,000, according to police.

Williams is scheduled to appear on April 4 at 2 p.m. at Downtown Community Court.

What, no description of the alleged? Is he cute? Is he clean? Is he brown? Did he take off his shoes?

the man should be schooled in basic good manners and learn some respect. i think a little education goes a lot further toward reform than a mere penalty.

Was the precipitated by mental illness?

why the effort? Another empty liberal (the NDP is currently slightly left of centre party of liberals, they have absolutely nothing to do even with social democracy let alone socialism) vessel, who cares? The poor guy (the hysterical attacker) should have stayed home and watched re-runs.
