The Vancouver Canucks have shipped a 21-year-old first-round draft pick to the Calgary Flames.

Left winger Hunter Shinkaruk was swapped for 22-year-old centre Markus Granlund.

Granlund, a second-round pick in 2011, has four goals and three assists with the Flames. He had five goals and four assists in 12 American Hockey League games with the Stockland Heat.

Shinkaruk has 21 goals and 18 assists this year in 45 games with the Utica Comets of the AHL.

He was drafted by former general manager Mike Gillis in the 2013 NHL entry draft.

Benning's decision to trade Shinkaruk has not gone over well with some fans.
