Train crews are responding to a derailment along the Burnaby waterfront just east of the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge.

On its Twitter account, Translink said the derailment will have no impact on the West Coast Express.

A rail car seen on its side just above the Burrard Inlet waterline appears to be a covered hopper, a specialized car for the transportation of loads such as grain. It is still unclear as to what the rest of the cars were carrying.

The City of Burnaby also responded via Twitter.
