Petition seeks resignation of Jill Krop as Global B.C. news director

      More than 1,000 people have attached their names to an online petition targeted at B.C.'s most-watched TV news station.

      It calls for the resignation of Jill Krop, news director and station manager at Global B.C.

      The long-time news anchor was promoted to these positions last year.

      The petition is in response to Global B.C.'s decision earlier this week to broadcast social-media images of a stabbing at Abbotsford senior secondary school, which claimed the life of a 13-year-old student.

      Krop later went on CKNW Radio to explain why the video was broadcast.

      The controversy led to some back and forth over social media by people who work in the media.
