One of the busiest Fraser River crossings is open to traffic following an afternoon shutdown.

The Alex Fraser Bridge was temporarily closed today because of worries about ice bombs from the cables striking vehicles.

"Ministry staff have determined that there is no longer a safety  concern and, therefore, have re-opened the bridge to traffic in both directions," the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastucture stated late this afternoon. "The Province thanks motorists for their patience."
