Vancouver police say some of its officers "have been involved in a shooting" this morning.

They were "assisting TransLink Police" who had responded to a report of a man with a machete at 29th Avenue Station.

"The suspect has been taken to hospital and his condition is not known at this time," the VPD stated in a news release. "The Independent Investigations Office has been notified."

TransLink has reported that the station and its bus loop are closed.

"All trains are single tracking through this area," the regional transportation authority said in a statement at 10:10 a.m. "Passengers are advised to avoid the area and make SkyTrain connections at larger areas. Please also avoid Joyce and Nanaimo stations as buses are unable to travel to these areas due to icy road conditions."
