Beginning at 5 p.m. on New Year's Eve, transit is free in the Lower Mainland.

But an afternoon snowfall has caused the regional transportation authority to make some adjustments to bus routes, due to icy conditions on some roads.

There's no service from SFU's Burnaby campus on the 95B Burrard route. It's taking a detour and starting from Hastings and Duthie streets.

The 95B SFU bus is taking the regular route to Hastings and Sperling streets before heading along Sperling, Curtis, Duthie, and Hastings before going back downtown along its regular route.

Those hoping to reach the Burnaby campus can take the 144 Metrotown from Bay 3 or hop on a shuttle service between Production Station and the SFU Burnaby campus.

TransLink has announced these changes as well:

169 Coquitlam: service omits Riverview and stays on Lougheed Highway to Coquitlam Station.

25 UBC/Brentwood: service terminates at Nanaimo Station and omits the section between Nanaimo and Brentwood Station.

209 Upper Lynn goes via Lynn Valley, Dempsey, and Underwood.

209 Vancouver goes from the terminal via Coleman, Hoskins, and the Lynn Valley regular route.

210 Upper Lynn goes via Lynn Valley, Dempsey, and Underwood.

210 Vancouver goes from the terminal along Coleman, Hoskins, and the Lynn Valley regular route.

Snow was sticking to the ground this afternoon in Vancouver's Fairview neighbourhood.

As of 3:23 p.m., there have been no delays on SkyTrain or SeaBus, according to TransLink.

The forecast calls for a mostly cloudy New Year's Day followed by sunshine with cold temperatures from Monday (January 2) to Wednesday (January 4).

Lows on those three days will range from -7 °C to -9 °C.
