The government of Canada issued a weather alert this morning warning more snow is on the way.

"A low pressure system moving across Washington State today will bring snow to Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley today and continue through tonight as a second, broad low pressure area follows in behind," the alert states. "The snowfall has been extended to Greater Victoria as higher snowfall amounts are expected near the Malahat."

It notes that there could be up to 15 centimetres of snow by Tuesday (February 7).

"However, due to the convective nature of the air mass, amounts may vary widely across the region," the weather alert states.

Meanwhile, schools are closed today in Surrey, Langley, Pitt Meadows, Maple Ridge, Abbotsford, Chilliwack, and Hope.

This morning at 9 a.m., the City of Vancouver will provide a weather update outside Vancouver City Hall.
