Ujjal Dosanjh: Donald Trump, you are mad and a danger to the world!

      Dear Donald Trump,

Your inauguration speech was a long tirade directed at the open, progressive, immigrant-friendly country that you inherited—intended to chart for it a new timid, narrow, nationalistic, isolationist, and authoritarian  course. You couldn't stomach the fact that your inauguration crowd was far smaller than Barack Obama's.

There were probably many more demonstrators in the Women's March against you following your ugly scream of a speech, than there were attendees at your oath ceremony. You complained about the "lies" media told about the size of your crowd. When you couldn't accept the truth, your press secretary defended your lies as your "belief".

On another of your lies, your counsellor, Kellyanne Conway, advanced the theory of alternative facts in your defence, so much so that on Amazon, George Orwell's 1984 started selling like hotcakes. You must know, as someone said, you are entitled to your opinions, but not your own manufactured facts.

Much has happened since you took the oath of office. You have appointed an attorney general of the United States whose appointment as a federal judge was once rejected by the Senate after allegations that he violated blacks' civil rights as a U.S. Attorney. And he has already rolled back the rights of the LGBTQ community.

Your national security adviser had to resign for lying to your vice president regarding discussions with the Russian ambassador about lifting the Obama sanctions against Russia when Obama was still the president. Despite knowing that he had undermined a sitting president in discussions on your behalf with a foreign hostile power, you went ahead and appointed Mike Flynn as your national security adviser anyway.

What kind of a president-elect knowingly condones undermining a sitting president vis-a-vis a foreign power? Obviously, only an illegitimate president-elect and president.

Under the pretext of arresting criminal illegal aliens, your administration is rounding up frightened men, women, and children and deporting them to Mexico, a country they haven't ever seen or been to for decades. You issued an executive order banning any Muslims from entering the United States from seven countries, but that didn't include Pakistan or Saudi Arabia—the source of much terror, including 9/11 and San Bernardino.

When the courts rejected your order, you inelegantly attacked the independent judiciary for disobeying you.

You have been denouncing any news you don't like as fake. You brand all media that are even slightly independent and critical of you as "dishonest" and "enemies of people".  Your White House excludes media outfits that you don't like.

When first a democratically elected leader starts calling the independent press "the enemy of people", the people should be legitimately concerned about the fascistic and dictatorial threat the leader may eventually pose. You are proving right those who argued that you didn't have the temperament to be president.

You appear to be literally mad. Many are calling you delusional. You have now said you won't attend the White House Correspondents' Dinner. It seems you are really bent upon picking a fight with the press.

Perhaps you are counting on the old adage of "not picking a fight with those who by ink by the ton" not being true in modern times because we live in the age of social and digital media. Think again. You didn't win a plurality of the Americans' votes in the election and right now you are much less popular than you were on Election Day.

On Presidents' Day many Americans demonstrated by holding banners that read "Not My President", "illegitimate president", and others. Lucky for me that you are not my president. But I feel sad for U.S. citizens because unfortunately, you are theirs in fact and in law—until impeached, if the Republicans ever have the courage and the smarts to do so. Until then the whole world will uncomfortably watch, pray, and hope that you will change for the better or be impeached.
