Tonight at Vancouver city hall, there's a long line of speakers registered to talk about the proposed rezoning of 105 Keefer Street and 544 Columbia Street.

Not only is Vancouver East NDP MP Jenny Kwan expressing her opposition, there are 167 others on the list, both pro and con.

That eclipses the 160 speakers who registered to speak at Rize Alliance's rezoning in 2012 to clear the way for construction of the Independent at the corner of Kingsway and East Broadway.

It also exceed the 141 registered speakers for a casino proposal in 2011 and the 118 registered speakers on big changes to Point Grey Road to make room for bike lanes in 2013.

Beedie (Keefer Street) Holdings Ltd. is seeking counci's approval to build a 12-storey building with 106 strata units adjacent to Chinatown Memorial Square.

The application calls for 25 units of social housing for low-income people.
