The Vancouver Police Department has confirmed that a woman performing a filmed motorcycle stunt died in Vancouver.

It occurred on the set of Deadpool 2. It's the second installment of the Ryan Reynolds-starring franchise about a character named Wade Wilson adapted from a Marvel comic book.

VDP officers and staff from WorkSafe B.C. are on the scene behind the Shaw Tower.

Last week, the Straight reported that the filming of Deadpool 2 closed off Hastings Street to traffic from Howe to Bute streets, as well as along Thurlow Street between West Pender and West Cordova streets.

At the time, Reynolds thanked the VPD for its efforts.

The first Deadpool, which was also filmed in Vancouver, is the top-grossing R movie in Hollywood history, generating US$783.4 million worldwide.
