Traffic is moving in both directions on the Sea to Sky Highway near Daisy Lake, but that wasn't the case earlier in the day.

The road was closed in both directions after a car caught fire.

This then started a wildfire at the side of the highway.

The incident occurred about 15 minutes south of Whistler and not far from Squamish.

Meanwhile, fire crews remain busy in others parts of southern B.C. as the hot weather is continuing through the Labour Day weekend.

About 55 properties have been evacuated near Peachland, with another 400 on evaculation alert.

Another 900 to 1,000 properties have been evacuated in the Kootenays.
