Donald Trump rescinds Stephen Curry's White House invite

Basketball star Stephen Curry found himself where no one wants to be today when he showed up in Donald Trump's tweets.

The President of the United States took the time to tell Curry, a member of the Golden State Warriors, that he was no longer invited to the White House to celebrate his Golden State Warriors winning the NBA title.

Yeah, that actually happened. The tweet had more than 120,000 likes, which is more or less unexplainable.

Curry is the second member of the Warriors to express disinterest in going to celebrate the team's win after fellow star Kevin Durant said he didn't want to go in August.

It's a tradition that members of professional sports teams that win the championship visit the White House to celebrate their victory. The Chicago Cubs visited the White House both while Obama was in office and again during Trump's tenure, while the Pittsburgh Penguins, who won the Stanley Cup this summer, have said they will go if invited.

It remains to be seen whether or not professional basketball and its players will keep up the tradition. Mega-star Lebron James called out Trump on Twitter after the president's Curry tweet.

Would more people rather be ruled by King James than the current president? Not sure, but a constitutional monarchy has worked out here in Canada. Maybe Trump and James could work something out.
