Earthquake strikes off Vancouver Island, west of Tofino

      A 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck off Vancouver Island at 1:26 a.m. (PST) today (October 11).

      The epicentre was located at 48.15 degrees north and 128.28 degrees west, according to Earthquakes Canada.

      It struck 169 kilometres (105 miles) west of Tofino at a depth of 10 kilometres.

      No injuries or damage was reported, no tsunami is expected, and Emergency Info BC stated that the seismic event did not pose a threat to B.C.
