B.C. NDP announces timeline for electing new leader to replace John Horgan

      B.C.'s next premier will be elected by New Democratic Party members on December 3.

      The party has also announced that its leadership campaign period will begin on July 17 with the membership sign-up deadline set for September 4.

      The final date for candidates to be nominated is October 4, with the final candidate registration deadline on October 19.

      The voting period starts on November 13.

      The chief electoral officer will be former NDP cabinet minister Elizabeth Cull.

      The B.C. NDP is choosing a new leader to replace Premier John Horgan, who announced last month that he's stepping down after surviving a second bout of cancer.
