A high-profile incident involving a Kelowna RCMP officer will be reviewed in Kelowna Provincial Court.

Today, the B.C. Prosecution Service announced that Cst. Lacey Browning faces one count of assault in connection with how she treated UBC Okanagan nursing student Mona Wang during a wellness check in January.

Video footage broadcast across the province shows Browning dragging Wang down the hall face-down from her apartment on campus.

Once Wang reaches the lobby, Browning appears to step on her head.

In media interviews, Wang has alleged that she suffered bruises around her eyes and on her arms, chest, and hips. She also claimed that she had burst blood vessels in her eyes.

Wang has filed a civil claim against Browning and Kelowna RCMP. It has since been settled.

None of the allegations against Browning has been proven in court.
