Benchmark home price in Chilliwack increases to $921,400 from $652,900 a year ago

      A report by the Chilliwack and District Real Estate Board indicates how the suburbs have become less affordable.

      In March 2022, the price of a typical home in markets served by the board rose to $921,400.

      This marks a 41.1 percent from the benchmark price of $652,900 in March 2021.

      CADREB statistics also indicate that the benchmark price of all types of homes posted annual increases of more than 40 percent.

      For example, the price of a typical detached home increased 41.3 percent to $1,082,000 in March 2022.

      For townhouses, the benchmark rose to $737,600, which represents a 41.1 percent increase.

      For condos, the typical price in March 2022 was $454,700, a 40.8 percent increase compared to the same month last year.

      CADREB covers Chilliwack, Sardis, Rosedale, Agassiz, Harrison Hot Springs, and Hope.

      The board’s report also indicated that the number of homes sold in March 2022 totalled 396.

      The deals mark a 41.1 percent decline from the 672 transactions in the same month of 2021.
