One of Canada's greatest soccer players has made his views known about hateful comments on social media.

Today, Alphonso Davies tweeted an image of himself with a shirt declaring "Red Against Racism" in German.

Davies, a 20-year-old former Vancouver Whitecaps teenage superstar, plays for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga. Its players don red jerseys when playing home games.

Davies is dating 19-year-old Canadian soccer player Jordyn Huitema, who's from Chilliwack.

She posted this image of the happy couple on Instagram in August, triggering racist responses.

The online racism was recently condemned by Canadian Soccer and Canadian national men's team coach John Herdman.

Davies is the youngest player to be selected to play for the Canadian men's soccer team. He was just 16 years old when he laced up his boots in June 2017. He was born in a refugee camp and was raised in Edmonton after his family fled civil war in Liberia.
