The extent of the damage to Lytton is becoming clearer after last night's devastating fire.

The Conservative MP for the area, Brad Vis, stated on his Facebook page that there are "reports of several injuries" in the town.

He also wrote that 90 percent of the village has burned and that there is "sustained structural damage".

"Neighbouring Telus and BC Hydro stations have suffered extensive damage. In addition, rail and highway infrastructure are affected," Vis stated.

Highway 1 north of Lytton is blocked and, according to Vis, Highway 12 is also "compromised".

"Detours are available via Highway 8 & Highway 5."

Vis represents Mission–Matsqui–Fraser Canyon in Parliament.
