The president of the United States and his Democratic Party challenger have issued diametrically opposed messages about how to deal with millions of uncounted ballots.

This morning, Donald Trump tweeted his demand to "STOP THE COUNT!" This blast attracted many thousands of likes from his followers.

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, on the other hand, has been tweeting that every vote must be counted.

This latest message from Trump came after Biden had piled up 253 votes in the Electoral College, compared to 213 for Trump.

A candidate needs 270 Electoral College votes to be elected president.

No winner has been declared in Arizona and New Mexico, where Biden is leading, or in Georgia, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania, where Trump is leading.

Biden is close to surpassing Trump in Georgia, where there are about 50,000 ballots left to be counted.

If Biden wins Arizona and Nevada, he'll reach 270 votes in the Electoral College. Georgia would add another 16 to his camp. There are 20 Electoral College votes up for grabs in Pennsylvania and another 15 in North Carolina.

Trump's path to victory requires him to eke out a victory in either Nevada, where the hospitality unions were getting out the vote for Biden, or Arizona, home to former Republican senator John McCain.

In the meantime, Twitter has issued several warnings about the accuracy of Trump's tweets since election night. You can see them below.
