At 11 a.m. on Sunday (July 3), cyclists will gather at the Vancouver Art Gallery for a sombre memorial ride.

It's being held in honour of UBC Vancouver School of Economic first-year PhD student Agustín Beltrán. He lost his life when a dump truck collided with his bicycle at the intersection of Pacific and Hornby streets around 7:30 a.m. on June 29.

Beltrán, 28, died at the scene.

"This ride is not a protest ride but a chance to show our support for his family and reflect on the need for safer road conditions for people #walking and #cycling," HUB Cycling tweeted. "Please consider coming out to show your support for Augustin's family, who have flown in this weekend."
