A grim discovery was made in the waters of Vancouver’s West Side yesterday morning.

Around 11 a.m. on October 18, the Canadian Coast Guard received several calls from people on the water who had seen a large recycling bin in the waters off Kits Point in Vancouver.

Vancouver police and the B.C. Coroners Service attended and confirmed that the remains found inside the bin were human.

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) is asking property managers and local residents to check to see if any of their large blue, wheeling recycling bins have gone missing.

The VPD stated in a news release that this is the city’s 15th homicide of the year.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the VPD Major Crime Section at 604-717-2500.
