Investigators are seeking help from the public in an investigation into gunfire that took place between vehicles in Surrey on the weekend.

Surrey RCMP stated that around 8:45 p.m. on June 19, officers responded to a shooting in the 7300 block of 128^th Street near Newton Athletic Park.

The incident involved two vehicles: a white jeep and a silver SUV, both of which sped away from the scene.

Officers found the white jeep after it crashed into a telephone pole and was abandoned. Police were able to locate the occupants, and confirmed that no one sustained injuries. The driver and passenger of the jeep were taken into police custody.

However, the silver SUV was not located.

Initial indications suggest that it was a targeted shooting and has links to drug trafficking and gang activity.
