Male customer allegedly assaulted Burnaby store employee after being asked about wearing a mask

      Police are seeking to identify and locate a suspect allegedly involved in a violent assault at a store in Burnaby.

      Burnaby RCMP stated today (May 20) that around 12:30 p.m. on May 8, a male suspect entered a retail store on 1st Avenue east of Boundary Road in Burnaby.

      When a staff member asked the suspect why he wasn’t wearing a mask, the suspect attacked the employee by repeatedly punching him in the head until he fell to the ground.

      When a second employee intervened, the suspect threatened to kill that employee with a knife.

      Before the suspect left, he grabbed a pair of bolt cutters and smashed the front window of the store.

      The suspect left the location by driving away.

      The suspect is described as a white male with blond hair and a buzz cut and was wearing a dark grey hoodie, light blue jeans, and dark running shoes.
