Man dies in hospital after shooting in South Burnaby

      The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has been called out to another deadly shooting incident.

      The latest gunfire occurred around 7 p.m. on Saturday (May 8) near 13th Avenue and 6th Street in South Burnaby.

      The male victim died of his injuries in hospital.

      It occurred in a commercial district with restaurants, beauty salons, a grocery store, and a martial-arts school in the vicinity. 

      There's no word on whether this homicide was targeted or if it's related to other recent shootings across the region.

      Metro Vancouver's latest homicide occurred near the intersection of 6th Street and 13th Street in Burnaby, not far from the border with New Westminster.

      On May 6, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team announced that a 24-year-old male, Ali Khudhair, was charged in the shooting death of 20-year-old Keryane Arsenault in Guildford two days earlier.

      Meanwhile, there have been no arrests in the shooting death of B.C. Corrections officer Bikramdeep Randhawa outside Scottsdale Centre near the busy intersection of 120th Street and 72nd Avenue in North Delta.

      Video of the mall parking lot showed a man dressed in black running away from the scene and jumping in the back of an SUV. It was later found burned in Burnaby.
