Police continue to investigate Vancouver's 14th motor-vehicle fatality of the year.

It occurred around 9 p.m. on October 10 when a man slammed his vehicle into a tree near Northwest Marine Drive and West 4th Avenue.

Police had already received several 9-1-1 calls about a motorist's erratic driving along West 4th Avenue. It's a well-travelled arterial street across the city's West Side.

According to the VPD, the man died at the scene. He was in his 30s and his name has not been released.

“Speed was definitely a factor in this tragic incident,” Const. Tania Visintin said in a VPD news release. “Our Collision Investigation Unit is investigating to determine if there were any other contributing factors.”
