A search for a 23-year-old woman that has been ongoing for several months has ended with a tragic discovery.

Chilliwack RCMP announced today (June 3) that police received notification about a woman’s body being discovered in the Fraser River near Coquitlam on June 2.

Police confirmed that it is the body of a 23-year-old woman from Chilliwack who was reported missing on January 31.

A search had been launched for Shaelene Keeler Bell, a mother of two young boys who was last seen at 8:30 p.m. on January 30 when she left her apartment in Chilliwack.

Her car was later located on February 1 on Ballam Road near the Fraser River, with her cellphone and other belongings inside the vehicle.

In February, family and friends offered a $10,000 reward for information of her whereabouts.

Chilliwack RCMP stated that as there isn’t any evidence to support criminal activity in this death, this investigation is now concluded.

Meanwhile, the B.C. Coroners Service is conducting its own investigation to determine the details of the death, including how, where, when, and by what means the death occurred.

Chilliwack RCMP stated that no other information is available at this time.
