The Paramount Gentlemen's Club on Columbia Street is closed until Tuesday (August 10) as a result of an early-morning stabbing incident.

New Westminster police said in a news release that two suspects were arrested a short distance away following a pursuit on foot.

“At this time, we believe this is an isolated incident,” Sgt. Sanjay Kumar said in the release. “There may be additional witnesses to this assault that have yet to speak to police, and we are encouraging those people to come forward.”

Officers were called to the establishment around 2 a.m. on August 8. They offered first aid to the victim until B.C. Ambulance staff arrived.

The man was taken to hospital and was treated for "serious but non-life-threatening injuries".

      No names have been released.
