Occupy Surrey protest to welcome George W. Bush to Canada
It looks like George W. Bush will be greeted by Occupy Wall Street-inspired protesters when he comes to Surrey next week.
A Twitter account called Occupy Surrey sprung up earlier this month and is encouraging people to attend a demonstration against the former U.S. president.
On Wednesday (October 12), Occupy Surrey tweeted: "When WAR CRIMINAL Bush comes to Surrey October 20th, we will meet him with a FLASH OCCUPATION. Expect us."
The protest is set to take place next Thursday, beginning at 10 a.m. outside the Bay at the Guildford Town Centre shopping mall.
Surrey mayor Dianne Watts hasn't responded publicly on Twitter to Occupy Surrey's tweets demanding that she cancel Bush's appearance at the Surrey Regional Economic Summit.
"WE ARE THE GENERATION WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR AND WE WILL NOT STAND FOR WAR CRIMINALS IN SURREY," Occupy Surrey tweeted at the mayor today (October 13).
Organized by the City of Surrey and the Business Council of British Columbia, the summit is being held at the Sheraton Vancouver Guildford Hotel next Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Watts is the conference's honourary chair.
Amnesty International, the Canadian Centre for International Justice, the Center for Constitutional Rights, and Lawyers Against the War have all called on Canadian authorities to arrest and prosecute Bush for the use of torture by U.S. forces.
Another Occupy Wall Street-inspired protest, Occupy Vancouver, is planned for this Saturday (October 15), starting at the Vancouver Art Gallery at 10 a.m.

The Bush family are some of the most evil people on this earth, why would Canada ever want one of them in their country? Please turn him over to be prosecuted for his war crimes, so that the would will see some justice, and can begin to heal.

it is pathetic how otherwise intelligent Canadians such as Mayor Watts will go to any lengths to be seen in the company of someone they imagine is 'important', or even just 'famous', even if it happens to be a disgraceful excuse for a president of what was once an important and famous country. Go Surrey! Make Bush understand that there are people in Canada who know exactly what he is, what he was, and what he stands for - and all three add up to nothing. Anybody who thinks otherwise needs to do a little more thinking and a little less being gaga about celebrity war criminals.

If people are interested in participating in giving a "warm welcome" to George W. Bush they are asked to meet in the Bay parking lot in Guildford (104th st. and 152nd ave) at 11 am on October 20th.
In case you missed how one person in Iraq gave Bush a not so warm welcome...

George W. Bush: Liar. Sadist. Torturer. "Dry" Drunk. Psychopath. War Criminal. Undiagnosed adult ADHD case.
His Yankee citizenship is the only thing protecting him from due legal process. America still gets away with murder with impunity in this world. It's about all America has left of its former world standing.
Good book: "Bush on The Couch," Justin A. Frank MD."I ...worry about the safety of the people whose live's [Bush] has touched."
