Motorists heading north from Surrey on Friday night who want to use the Pattullo Bridge will have to find another route after 10 p.m. on Friday night (August 19).

Because of ongoing work by the province related to the Pattullo Bridge Replacement Project, only southbound drivers will be able to access the bridge from 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Saturday (August 20).

Also, New Westminster's Bridge Connector, under the Royal Avenue overpass, will be completely closed during those same hours.

Although the southbound lanes on the Pattullo will still be open, drivers coming from McBride Boulevard will have to use the Columbia Street on-ramp. The Royal Avenue on-ramp will stay open, according to an August 18 TransLink bulletin.

Cyclists and pedestrians, as well as first responders, will have unrestricted access in both directions at all times.

The release said that northbound drivers should use the Alex Fraser or Port Mann bridges as alternative routes.

Transit users are advised that the N19 NightBus northbound trips during the closure will be rerouted via the Alex Fraser and Queensborough bridges. TransLink said that riders should budget an extra 30 minutes for those trips.
