This morning (October 20), the Georgia Straight headed to the Surrey Regional Economic Summit at the Sheraton Vancouver Guildford Hotel.

Later in the day, former U.S. presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton spoke at the summit, organized by the City of Surrey and the Business Council of British Columbia.

Protesters outside the summit called for Canadian authorities to arrest and prosecute Bush for human-rights violations including the torture of detainees, but the RCMP confirmed it would not do so.

Here's what we saw this morning inside and outside the summit.

Dozens of police officers standing around, but no one will take a stand and arrest this criminal! Our law enforcement people don't get my respect, that's for sure!

BC fat-cats cry about spending $500,000 on un-invited police security at OCCUPY VANCOUVER protest ... but how much money is being spent to protect the war criminal BUSH?

It is no wonder that respect for law enforcement is at an all time low!
