There are new calls for Mayor Doug McCallum to step aside in the wake of a recent story on Global News B.C.

Reporter Catherine Urquhart obtained the information to obtain search warrants, which reveal what police said to justify their request for court orders in connection with a complaint filed by Surrey's mayor last year.

McCallum faces one count of public mischief in connection with his allegation that he was verbally assaulted and that his foot was run over by a motorist in the parking lot of a Save-On-Food store in South Surrey.

According to Global News B.C., Surrey's mayor “provided a version of events that has been partially disproved based on the statement provided (by the driver) … and the video surveillance obtained from the Save-On-Foods.”

The Crown's allegation against McCallum has not been proven in a court. A seven-day trial is scheduled on October 31, which is two weeks after the next Surrey municipal election.
