Police identify North Delta shooting victim as provincial corrections officer Bikramdeep Randhawa
The victim of a brazen daylight murder on the weekend was employed by the provincial government.
Delta police say that Bikramdeep Randhawa, 29, was shot dead in what appears to have been a targeted shooting on May 1 near the busy intersection of 120th Street and 72nd Avenue.
Randhawa was a provincial corrections officer.
Police have no idea why he was gunned down and are looking into the possibility of the killing being a case of mistaken identity.
“We’re looking at all possible aspects as to why this crime was committed,” says Insp. Guy Leeson said in a police news release. “We will examine every potential motive thoroughly. Whether it was a case of mistaken identity, a matter related to his personal life or if there is a possibility the shooting was related to the victim’s occupation.”
Video taken at the time showed a man dressed in black sprinting in the parking lot of Scottsdale Centre before hopping in the back of an SUV, which sped away.
A similar looking vehicle was later found burned in Burnaby.
