For the second consecutive night, Vancouver police relied on spotlights to disperse people from Vancouver beaches last night.

Marine and air units were dispatched.

The vast majority of partiers complied and departed.

However, some of the revellers allegedly threw bottles at officers, according to CBC News.

The tweets below by Global News-CKNW staffer John Streit show the RCMP helicopter and the VPD marine unit doing their work last night.

There were large crowds at English Bay throughout the day, as the tweet below indicates.

When an RCMP helicopter flew over English Bay on Friday night, some West End residents were under the impression that police were searching for criminals.

In fact, the goal was simply to clear the beach.
