Today (August 10), the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) announced that the man discovered deceased in a ditch in Richmond on August 7 has been identified as 23-year-old Christopher Singh from Delta.
IHIT stated that the incident was confirmed to be a targeted shooting, not a random act.
Singh did not have a criminal record although he was known to police and “had suspected involvement in the Lower Mainland gang conflict”, according to IHIT.
As investigators are seeking to establish a timeline of events leading up to the incident, anyone who has information relevant to this case is asked to conctact IHIT by calling 1-877-551-4448 or by email.

An investigation is underway into the circumstances of the discovery of a dead individual in Richmond this morning.
Around 9:32 a.m. today (August 7), police responded to a report of an unresponsive male found in a ditch about one kilometer east of 17100 Cambie Road in Richmond.
Upon arriving at the location, officers confirmed the location of a male who had died and who may have been killed in a shooting incident.
According to Richmond RCMP, initial indications suggest that the incident was targeted and doesn’t appear to be random.
Richmond RCMP called in the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) for the investigation, which remains ongoing.

Previously in a separate case, two individuals died in a shooting on June 25 at a residence near Barnard Drive and Westminster Highway in Richmond. IHIT had stated that was an isolated incident, and that it was unrelated to the ongoing Lower Mainland gang conflict.
