A Conservative candidate in B.C. is attracting some unwanted attention for videotaped comments floating around on social media.

Dave Busch, a lawyer, said that he's sorry over Twitter for what he described as "insensitive remarks".

In one of the videos, Busch highlighted the story of a five-year-old shot in the head at point-blank range in the United States.

Then he said that there wasn't much of an outcry, perhaps because "his skin colour and the shooter's skin colour didn't fit the narrative that is being currently pushed in our mainstream media".

In another video, Busch blamed the "Squad"—four female Democratic members of Congress of colour—for encouraging riots.

A third video decried "criminals" demonstrating for justice for George Floyd, an African American murdered by police in Minneapolis.

In a fourth video, Busch claimed to have been victimized by discrimination when he was dressed as a cop while working in the film industry. He purported that he was verbally assaulted by three people who thought he was a police officer.

Taleeb Noormohamed, the Liberal candidate in Vancouver Granville, tweeted the videos. They were all filmed in 2020 and 2021.

"Erin O'Toole didn't mention racism even once in his platform, yet he supports candidates like David Busch in B.C.," Noormohamed stated. "There is no place for this in Canada."

Busch is running against Green incumbent Elizabeth May in Saanich–Gulf Islands.

"To those who I offended, please accept my sincere apology," Busch declared.

He also insisted over Twitter the videos do not reflect who he is as a person, which drew several skeptical responses, including the one below.
