A 25-year-old former People's Party of Canada riding association president appeared in court today in London, Ontario.

Shane Marshall is charged with one count of assault with a weapon.

It came in connection with a man throwing gravel at Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as he was boarding a Liberal campaign bus in London, Ontario, on September 6.

Trudeau was not injured in the incident.

The People's Party of Canada announced afterward that Marshall is no longer president of the Elgin-Middlesex-London riding association.

None of the allegations against him have been proven in court.
