Some Vancouver Airbnb units are being converted into long-term rental dwellings at far lower prices
The anonymous Twitter account known simply as @mortimer_1 has delivered another intriging fact this morning.
One of this person's tweets highlights how someone copied listing details from a Vancouver Airbnb listing and posted it on Craigslist as a rental laneway home.
But here's the catch.
The unit costs $5,145 per month on Airbnb and only $1,850 per month on Craigslist.
The tweet ends with "Principal residence? @CityofVancouver" and the Airbnb licence number.

With so few tourists coming to Vancouver as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, it's created a glut of Airbnb listings on the market.
The fastest way to monetize them is to offer them to paying tenants.
The listing above isn't unique—@mortimer_1 has also been highlighting other Airbnb units in the process of becoming longer-term rentals.
You can see three of them below.
