TransLink announces upcoming Pattullo Bridge overnight lane closures

The Georgia Straight received the following bulletin today (September 21) from TransLink. It is reprinted below in its entirety.

The Pattullo Bridge will only be open to single-direction traffic overnight next Monday and Tuesday, with lane closures taking effect from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following day. These closures are necessary to ensure the safety of workers and those travelling over the bridge. The bridge will remain open to pedestrians, cyclists, and first responders in both directions at all times.

The lane closures are required for the safe inspection of the underside of the deck, using a large truck that takes up two lanes of traffic. This work is part of an annual structural inspection of the Pattullo Bridge.

N19 NightBus trips affected by the lane closures will be rerouted over the Alex Fraser and Queensborough bridges between New Westminster and Scott Road stations. Customers should plan for up to 30 minutes of additional travel time.

The inspection is part of our ongoing efforts to ensure the Pattullo Bridge remains in a state of good repair until its replacement is completed in 2024.

We thank bridge users and neighbours for their patience during this work.
