A possible exposure to COVID-19 caused the Vancouver Canucks to cancel a practice just three days before their NHL season will begin.

No details were released beyond that.

Later on Sunday (January 10), the team announced that it will resume practising on Monday (January 11).

Four teams have had their pre-season practices interrupted due to coronavirus cases or coronavirus scares.

The Dallas Stars, for example, had six players and two staff who tested positive for COVID-19.

The Pittsburgh Penguins also cancelled a practice and several Columbus Blue Jackets missed practice because of the league's rules around COVID-19.

The Canucks are expected to open their season in Edmonton on Wednesday (January 13) when they take on the Oilers.
