A man is in custody and charged with aggravated assault following an unprovoked attack on January 22.

Two days later, Vancouver police released video of a man in a hoodie stabbing another customer in the Tim Hortons coffee shop at Harbour Centre.

The victim, a Mexican tourist to Canada, is expected to survive from serious and life-threatening wounds.

Today (January 26), Vancouver police said that the emergency response team arrested David Richard Morin, 27, shortly after 4 p.m. on January 25 near Granville and Helmcken streets.

It came after tips flowed in from the public following release of the video.

None of the allegations against Morin have been proven in court.

“We’re relieved to have made an arrest so quickly in this troubling case, and hope this helps restore the sense of safety that some people have lost,” Sgt. Steve Addison said in a VPD news release. “Everyone who came forward with information deserves credit for this quick arrest.”
