A stash of weapons in a Kerrisdale residence that police are calling “alarming” has been seized and a man has been arrested.

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) stated in a news release today (February 12) that officers responded to a 911 call about an alleged domestic dispute on the morning of January 26.

A witness told police about hearing a man and woman yelling for 45 minutes.

When police arrived at the specified suite in a building near Yew Street and West 37th Avenue to speak with the couple, officers spotted shot guns, rifle cases, gun ammunition, a taser, knives, pepper spray, and a gun cabinet. The number of weapons was not specified.

VPD spokesperson Const. Tania Visintin stated that “this extensive seizure is concerning”.

Officers obtained a search warrant and seized the weapons and related gear, and also arrested 37-year-old Darryl Teal.

Charges for the possession of these weapons have been approved, and the case remains under investigation.

Teal was released from custody pending his next court appearance, which is scheduled for February 22.
