Update: Vancouver police reveal identity of 24-year-old fatal stabbing victim in Kerrisdale

      Update (July 16):

      Police have revealed the identity of a victim who was stabbed in Kerrisdale near Southlands on the weekend.

      The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) announced today (July 16) that the victim of a stabbing on July 10 was 24-year-old Luis Rosas Saenz.

      He was found suffering from a stab wound on that day around 6:30 p.m. near Southwest Marine Drive and West 57th Avenue. Although he was taken to hospital, he later died from his injuries. 

      No arrests have been announced so far.

      “Investigators believe that a number of people were driving down the road at the time of the offence,” VPD spokesperson Const. Tania Visintin stated in a news release. “We need anyone with dashcam footage to call our investigators as soon as possible.”

      Anyone with information or dash cam footage in the area of Southwest Marine Drive and West 57th Avenue between 6 and 7 p.m. on July 10 is asked to call the VPD tip line at 604-717-2500 or Crime Stoppers, to remain anonymous,a at 1-800-222-8477.

      Vancouver's 10th homicide of the year has occurred in one of Vancouver's wealthier neighbourhoods.

      On July 10 just after 6:30 a.m., police responded to a call to a home near Southwest Marine Drive and West 57th Avenue.

      A man with a stab wound was located in the area. He was rushed to hospital but did not survive.

      Police were originally summoned to the area after reports of three men, including one wielding a knife, out in the street.

      No arrests have been made and no names have been released.
